Differences Among Python Interpreters

CPython: The standard Python interpreter implemented in C, which is also the most widely used Python interpreter.
PyPy: A Python interpreter based on Just-in-Time (JIT) compilation technology. PyPy can provide faster execution in some scenarios than CPython, but it is incompatible with many C extensions, so caution is needed when using it.

x-cmd and Python

The x-cmd team plans to release precompiled CPython to provide a cleaner installation method on platforms like Linux, macOS, and Windows. However, we found more resistance than expected in this attempt, so we have temporarily put this plan on hold.
The x-cmd team currently recommends and defaults to using Miniconda Python. However, we also provide a package for PyPy Python, which you can install and use via x env use pypy.

Automatically create symbolic links for executable files in x-cmd's bin directory.
All currently open shells can directly use the command name.

Temporary Installation:

Automatically download the installation package and expand it locally.
Temporarily add the bin directory of the package's installation location to the $PATH variable of the current shell.
Now the current shell can directly use the command name. Can be used for temporary use or to try the package before deciding whether to install it globally.
